Bob and the team spent three days at my house over Christmas. Doc liked to flirt with the mares so he was always standing at the end of my barn where he could flirt with one of my mares. Dollie was always right beside him, making sure he behaved himself. She wasn't letting him out of her sight. She managed to get her halter caught on the water hydrant twice, turning on the water which ran for hours. Doubled my water bill for the month of December. I led Doc twice, or rather he led me, he is one powerful horse. Joyce and DeeDee were the quite ones always together. Being half sisters they grew up together and pulled together. I think Bob said he'd had them since the were a year old, his Grandfather had raised them. I too hope they put up markers. DeeDee DeeDee The two on road side in front Dollie and DeeDee behind her the other two Doc in front then Joyce Dollie in front and Doc Dollie, Doc and Joyce Doc DeeDee From the left DeeDee, Joyce, Dollie and Doc DeeDee amd Joyce From left DeeDee, Joyce, Dollie and Doc I have lots more pictures.

Looking at these pictures to post made the pain worse and better at the same time. I'm still in shock and disbelief that this happened. It seems like just yesterday that Bob and the horses were here, alive and well. I know this was for DeeDee and Dollie but they were four, a team. Bob told me the farther they went the better they got and the more they worked as a team. Nothing much upset them anymore, they were pulling like a well oiled machine, with a heart, four hearts.

DeeDee was a part of my daily life for 10 years. I never knew a horse could be so kind. She had a big, giant head that just ached for scratchin'. Joyce was the glamour girl but DeeDee was all love. About 9 years ago, Bob entered the girls in the Deerfield Old Homedays Parade. We all piled into a wagon, along with our mean rooster that we were trying to give away. There were hay bales and sunflowers for decorations. Lisa, Bob's daughter, braided roses into the horses manes and tales. The "Float" took First Prize. When the entry from Peaceful Acres was announced as the Blue Ribbon winner, DeeDee and Joyce raised their huge heads and winnied a loud Thanks to the crowd. It was awesome.

I was only around them for three days but felt like it had been forever. Bob and the horses just have a presence about them that makes you feel as though you've always known them.

I found this on Bob's site to night: Date: 02/15/2009 Guest: 8 (Reference ID: 1764007) Name: AL CADE Email Address: ALCADE5@AOL.COM Where did you meet or see Bob?: BOBS WRECK HAPPENED BESIDE MY PROPERTY, DEE DEE AND JOYCE ARE BURIED ON MY LAND Comments: I NEVER MET BOB BUT FEEL LIKE I KNOW HIM. I WROTE THIS POEM. I HOPE IT HELPS IN HIS RECOVERY.
The Wagon Teamster
When I think of New Hampshire, I don’t think of wagons and teams, I think of mountains, snow, and cold running streams.
But a man from there with a with a dream in his heart, Built a Wagon RV pulled by a team and across country he’d start.
Bob is the adventuresome type always following his dreams, Tis no wonder he put is faith in the people and his draft horse team.
He started his journey with no destination in mind, Just traveling around, with his four horses and poodle Clementine.
He touched many lives state after state and mile after mile, He enjoyed life and met every person with a great big smile.
Bob traveled many miles day after day He made friends everywhere along the way,
With just a few minutes or overnight in each new town, Word spread and people would come for miles around.
To say “hi” or talk about his adventures and dreams, Or bring the kids to see his wonderful team.
People who never met Bob, but heard of his amazing journey from friends or TV, Followed his travels and saying to themselves, I wish that was me.
Posting events on the Internet to catalog his travels for all to read, And he loved the responses from everyone admiring the life he leads.
Bob loves life and lives each day like it could be his last, He looks to the future and doesn’t dwell on the past.
Little did Bob know his journey would pause on a Mississippi Road, And he’d be burdened with such a heavy load.
But his burden is temporary on his journey through this land, Because God is holding him in the palm of his hand.
GOD spared BOB DOC DOLLY and his poodle CLEMENTINE for them to go on, And took JOYCE and DEEDEE to pull his chariot and call them his own.
Bob wasn’t promoting a cause nor on any type of mission, “Just enjoying life” is his position.
They say out of every bad thing something good comes out if it, I believe lots of good things will spring from a man like this.
Bob said this journey he got a do-over to start anew, This is what we all wish we could do.
We know you’re not a quitter and will get another “do-over” my friend, Hang in there and get well soon, we’re all are waiting to help you to hit the road again.

My heart is breaking reading of this accident. I felt like I knew Bob and the team from reading his blog every day. I have lost my best dogs in the last couple of years, one to old age, one to an accident, the wounds still fresh in my heart are open again from reading about DeeDee, and Dollie. This is such an unexpected turn for such a wonderful adventure.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob or the team...
